Oils on Canvas

Since I started using oils in January, a lot of my pictures had quite muted colour schemes, especially the last two I did. So in this one I used a variety of bright colours on the roses. The central pale rose had to have very pure mixes; the slightest amount of impurity and the colour would be a faded grey mud. Overall this was a very challenging and absorbing painting.

This is wonderful! The luminescence and range of colours on the roses are very captivating. For some reason it reminds me of one painting that hangs in our arbour in the garden, the lighting there is similar to the one here and just as great! Definitely wandering into my favs

Wow Niall! You outdid yourself on this one. I don't know how I missed it when you first posted it! The realism is superb and the complimentary colors are divine! The details are fantastic, and the flowers really stand out against the leafy green background. As always, I am amazed at your skill with a paint brush
